OCD Support Group of the Valley - A Self Help Support Group . . . There is Hope!
Welcome to the website for the OCD Support Group of the Valley!

The Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group of the Valley is sponsored by the Mental Health Guild, an all volunteer not-for-profit 501C(3) charitable organization in Arizona whose mission is to collaborate and support programs to improve the  lives of individuals impacted by mental illness.

The group is located in Arizona in the Valley of the Sun which includes Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, the Sun Cities, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler. We are an Adults Only (Age 18 and over) group due to the subject matter that at times needs to be discussed.  The group is  focused on helping sufferers and their families understand and deal with the diagnosis of OCD. Significant others are always welcome.  They need to attend to understand how they can support their sufferer in the healing process.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disorder of the brain and behavior.  OCD causes severe anxiety in those affected.    OCD involves both obsessions and compulsions that take a lot of time and get in the way of important activities the person values.  Treatment includes assisting the patient to deal with the anxiety caused by the illness.  Although there are many different symptoms that can be caused by OCD, such as hand washing, checking and thought compulsions, the feeling is the same.  There is nothing like being in a group where other members are nodding their heads in understanding and knowing that you are not alone.
We look forward to meeting you!
